Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was founded by Imran Khan on April 25, 1996, in Lahore. The party describes its founding purpose as building an independent, corruption-free justice system that treats every citizen equally regardless of wealth or status. PTI won its first National Assembly seat in 2002, boycotted the 2008 election, and became Pakistan's second most-voted party in 2013, going on to form the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
